Social Media & Christian Living

This week we had a seminar at church about how we can think through how to be thoroughly Christian as we engage with social media. (If you missed it, check out the Talks section.)

I mentioned at the end two separate seminars that might help you continue to think through this:

  • Moore College Centre for Christian Living: Face to face or Facebook?
The evening of Monday the 20th of February at Moore College  — this is the big-picture thinking evening, of more on how to think through being a Christian online, and having the gospel influence all parts of our lives. It should be a blast.
  • Generation Next: Kids in cyberspace
This event is during the day on Friday 16th of March, concerning the various dangers and opportunities related to protecting kids online. Should be well worth it if you can make it.

Hope they’re useful.

Sam.

Ministry in 2012

We are all members of the body of Christ, called to use our talents, energy, time and resources to build up God’s people and be part of God’s mission in the world. It is amazing that God takes our humble efforts and uses them for his glory. Even the little things that perhaps go unseen are seen by God and count in his kingdom.

If you are a member of All Saints church, we’d love you to be part of what we are doing together. You may have received a paper copy of the 2012 ‘ministry form’ at church, or you can get a PDF here to fill out and return by December 31 2011. Alternatively, you can fill the form out and submit it online. Please prayerfully consider your ministry at church, and commit yourself to wholeheartedly serving God in 2012.

Easter 2011

A Crown of Thorns

This coming weekend is Easter, a time of solemn remembrance of Jesus’ death for us, and celebration at his resurrection.

Our Good Friday service (April 22nd) is at 9.00 am. Mark 15 will be our passage for the day. Hot cross buns will be served after the service.

Easter Sunday will have 3 services at the usual times: 9.00 am, 10.45 am, and 6.30 pm.

We’d love for you to come and join us.

New Sunday Morning Format

On Sunday 30th January we will launch our new Sunday morning format. The plan is to have two family orientated  services with a combined morning tea in between. Children will start in the service and then go out to their own program (Cornerstone: preschool-Yr6 & Sunday Juice: Yr7-9). A creche will be available at both services. We will be commencing a new series of bible talks from Mark’s gospel titled ‘The Servant King’. The same talk will be given at both morning services.

Sunday mornings from the 30th January onwards will now look like this:

9.00am family service   10.15am morning tea   10.45am family service

January Morning Services

During January 2011 there will be only one service on Sunday mornings, at 9.00 am. This is for all weeks of January until the 30th — please adjust your alarm clocks accordingly!

The evening service will not be changed at all, and will continue to meet at 6.30 pm.

Children’s Minister Position

While Buff intends to stay actively involved in children’s ministry next year she plans to step down from her current role. We are therefore looking to employ a part-time Children’s Minister 2-3 days per week next year. We will start advertising this week through church papers and other contacts. Please circulate this notice to anyone you might know who would be interested in the position.

Offertory Envelopes

Envelopes are now available, ready to start on Sunday 7th November. If you currently put cash in the offertory, please consider taking a set of envelopes as a way of giving regularly and discreetly.
